Happy Birthday, F-335!

yamaha f-335

I was thinking about selling an old guitar I haven't played in years. I dug it out today to look up the model and serial number, to figure out how much it's worth. Around 2007, I bought it used from the legendary Sandy's Music, which was directly across the street from my apartment. I didn't know anything about guitars; I just asked for something basic and cheap to strum chords. I wish I had been more extroverted at the time, since I could've taken the opportunity to get to know a local music icon, Sandy Sheehan. He hosted bluegrass jam nights every week. I attended one, with my Yamaha F-335, and quickly realized I was in over my head because I didn't know any traditional tunes.

Decoding the serial number based on info online, it turns out that this guitar was the 16th copy of this model, made in Indonesia on July 13th, 1999, exactly 26 years ago today! I will take this strange coincidence as a cosmic sign that the guitar yearns to be brought into the light again and played. All she needs is a new set of strings and a good dusting.
