Climate Change in Massachusetts

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is legally required to reach net zero emissions by 2050.

The current mix of electricity is about 45-50% gas, 28% nuclear, and <10% of solar, wind, and hydro.

At least 5GW of gas generation will need to be replaced. This would require doubling the installed solar capacity, or tripling the installed wind power capacity.

And emissions from the electricity sector represent about 1% of the State's total carbon footprint...
